Follow Up of the Day: After a short hiatus, The Colbert Report is set to resume production tomorrow according to a Comedy Central spokesperson.
The show aired reruns for the better part of last week after Wednesday’s taping was cancelled at the last minute “due to unforeseen circumstances.”
Though no official statement has been released concerning the reason behind the sudden production halt, sources close to Colbert said he took time off to take care of his 91-year-old mother, Lorna, who had fallen ill.
He appeared to acknowledge these reports on Friday, when he took to Twitter to thank fans on behalf of himself and his family for “their thoughts and prayers.”
Colbert’s guest tomorrow will be award-winning author Ann Patchett.

The (debt) deal gives the Republicans $2.4 trillion in (spending) cuts with no increase in taxes or closing (tax) loopholes for corporations and the rich. In return, the Democrats get a rise in the debt ceiling that lasts… until 2013. And you know you’ve won a negotiation when the opponent’s only demand is not to have to negotiate with you for a long time.
